Four things to remember while storing dangerous goods in storage containers
Different kinds of goods require different measures
and different storage containers for shipping depending upon their nature,
size, weight, etc. While most objects can be stored in standard containers for hire, dangerous goods like
chemicals, certain hazardous gases require special treatment and safety
measures to be taken. Here are a few safety measures one can take to ensure the
safe storage and shipment of hazardous goods.
- First of all, analyse and understands the nature of the chemical/substance and read the instructions about its handling very carefully.
- Find out the quantity of the good that needs to be stored and the dimensions of dangerous goods storage containers it would require.
- Another important aspect is how long does it require being stored? Are there any chances of spills, fire, damage to property, etc on storage for a long period of time?
- Always store the material in its original container and always make sure the warning labels are intact. If they look torn or worn off, immediately apply fresh labels for added safety.
